The short version
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission from the retailer. The price you pay is the same either way. Commissions do not decide what we recommend, how we rank products, or what we say about them.

Programs we participate in
We participate in the Amazon Associates program and in affiliate programs operated by manufacturers and retailers of office furniture, sleep products, and recovery tools. Affiliate links are marked, and you can always tell that a link may earn us a commission by the disclosure note near the top of any article that contains them.
How commissions work
When you click an affiliate link, the retailer sets a cookie in your browser that records that you arrived from this site. If you buy within that cookie’s lifetime — which varies by program, from 24 hours for Amazon to 30 days or more for some retailers — the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. If you buy later, or search for the product yourself instead, we usually earn nothing. That is fine.
What commissions do not buy
- They do not buy a recommendation. We have written negatively about products whose programs we belong to, and we will again.
- They do not buy a ranking position. Our ordering is set before we look at commission rates.
- They do not buy a review score, a “best of” slot, or a place in a comparison table.
- They do not buy silence. If a product we recommend changes for the worse, we say so and update the article.
Products we do not link
Some things we recommend have no affiliate program at all — a particular stretch, a way of setting up a monitor, a cheap item from a local shop. We recommend them anyway. If a recommendation of ours is not monetized, that is not an oversight.
Cookies
Affiliate links may set third-party cookies so the retailer can attribute the sale. You can block or clear these in your browser settings; the site will still work, and we will simply not be paid if you buy. See our Privacy Policy for more on cookies.
